We will go over aftercare during your booking, feel free to DM me to ask any questions about aftercare.

  • By default I use cling film to cover your tattoo

  • Always interact with your fresh tattoo with clean hands

  • After 2-3 weeks, your tattoo is ‘healed’, you should then use daily sunscreen, and keep your skin moisturised

Things not to do

  • Don’t let anyone touch your fresh tattoo

  • Don’t share aftercare creams with others

  • Don’t submerge your tattoo in water (baths, pools, oceans/rivers, saunas, steam rooms) showering is fine.

  • Don’t scratch, pick or rub your tattoo.

  • Don’t have your fresh tattoo in direct sunlight

  • Don’t get pet hair on your tattoo, don’t let animals touch the fresh tattoo

  • For the first 2 weeks, do not apply anything other than aftercare to the tattoo, no fake tan, no sunscreens, etc etc

  • Don’t wear tight garments, or garment that cause direct pressure or friction on the tattoo

If CLINGFILM was used to cover your tattoo

  • Keep the clingfilm on for 1-4 hours, do not wrap it again, leave it uncovered to breathe

  • Use warm water and a fragrance-free soap (do not use a bar of soap) to clean the tattoo, wash away the Vaseline and the goo

  • Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel (do not rub as this can aggravate the skin)

  • Apply aftercare cream once on the day you get the tattoo

  • Apply a thin layered of aftercare cream 2-3 times a day for the next 2 weeks (do not use products contain petroleum jelly or alcohol)

  • Ensure you are cleaning your tattoo twice a day for the first few days

  • Clean the tattoo once a day for the remaking 2 week of healing

If FIXOMULL was used to cover your tattoo

  • leave Fixomull on for 5-7 days

  • you can shower with it on, but cannot submerge it in water

  • gently clean the fixomull with water when showering

  • Fixomull will get wet, gently press with a clean towel to dry

  • Fixomull can peel off early, generally the corners will roll up, if it can be stuck back down its okay

  • If the Fixomull peels to reveal tattoo, it will need to be removed early.

  • Some instances allergic reactions to the Fixomull/adhesive can occur, if there is irritation, redness, itchiness around the edge of the Fixomull its best to remove it

  • If the Fixomull comes off early, please get in touch so I can provide suitable aftercare instruction

HOW TO remove Fixomull

  • Best done in the shower

  • Pull at an edge, and slowly/gently loosen the Fixomull

  • If you have a free hand, hold your skin taut as you peel off the Fixomull

  • You can soak the Fixomull in coconut oil, and let it marinate for 5-10minutes, this will soften the adhesive and make removal easier

  • A grotty/sticky boarder can remain, use soap or coconut oil to gently clean this away.

  • You will now need to use a daily moisturiser (or aftercare product) on the tattoo for another week

HAND/FINGER TATTOOS

  • Hand/finger tattoos are more difficult to heal because we use our hands for everything

  • Avoid as much friction as possible

  • Keep you hands as clean as possible

  • Try avoid submerging your hands in water, dry after when possible

  • You can wear gloves for dirty tasks

  • Avoid wearing gloves for long periods of time

  • Most finger/hand tattoos require a small touch-up

  • Be mindful of what you handle and touch with your fresh finger/hand tattoos

Specific random aftercare precautions

  • For the first 2-3 weeks your fresh tattoo is akin to an open cut

  • Do not attend events/activities were your fresh tattoo will be rubbing against or making skin on skin contact with bodies

  • Avoid all bodily fluid/sexual fluids making contact with your fresh tattoo

  • Do not wear latex or not breathable material over your fresh tattoo

INFECTION, or ‘Uh Oh something went wrong’.

Tattoos are open wounds, the needle cuts the skin and introduces a foreign material into the body. There are complications that can arise. Some bodies are sensitive and can react more to the tattoo process and some bodies react differently to different ink colours. Redness, warmth, stinging, general discomfort in the tattoo area are all normal when the tattoo is fresh. This irritation usually peaks 1-2 days into healing. After which, If your tattoo starts to feel worse or more painful, with increased redness or inflammation please get in touch with me. Tattoo infection is possible, especially if hygiene measures aren’t followed. If there is cause for concern it’s recommended to book a doctor as antibiotics may be required.
